SEOUL, the Soul of Asia

Seoul telah menjadi ibukota Korea kurun waktu 600 tahun, sejak jaman Dinasti Joseon  (1392 – 1910). Awalnya kota ini bernama Hanyang. Namun sejak meraih kemerdekaan dari Jepang pada tahun 1945, pemerintahan yang baru berdiri mengubah namanya menjadi SEOUL. Tak heran kota ini disebut the Soul of Asia, kehidupan Korea yang dinamis bisa dilihat dengan sangat mudah disini.

Sungai Han yang mengalir di tengah kota, membagi kota Seoul menjadi daerah seni dan budaya di bagian utara, serta daerah bisnis dibagian selatan. Tawaran berwisata gaya modern dan tradisional ada di sini, tentunya dengan segala sarana penunjang transportasi dan koneksi internet yang sangat mudah didapatkan. Daya tarik inilah yang menjadikannya sebagai salah satu tujuan wisata yang laris manis untuk dikunjungi turis mancanegara.

Dipopulerkan juga oleh para artis-artis Korea yang merajalela di pertelevisian seantero Asia, menjadikan Korea menjadi tujuan para penikmat drama dan k pop. Berjalan sendiri di kota Seoul tidaklah sulit, hampir sama dengan kota metropolitan lainnya. Tranportasi massal yang sangat memadai, membuat kita gampang menuju kemana saja. Dengan adanya empat musim, juga memberikan nuansa yang berbeda untuk setiap musimnya. Setiap perubahan musim akan memberikan dampak yang berbeda. Contohnya permulaan musim semi akan bermunculan bunga-bunga yang sangat menarik mata untuk memandangnya.

Downtown kota Seoul termasuk padat, namun tidak terjadi kemacetan lalu lintas seperti di kota-kota besar lainnya. Penataan lalu lintasnya sangat baik, demikian juga tersedianya sarana transportasi umum yang memadai. Misalnya, masyarakat dapat menggunakan kereta api bawah tanah (subway) yang tidak kelihatan di badan jalan atau bus-bus umum yang kapasitas besar. Sehingga masyarakatnya sangat jarang menggunakan kendaraan sendiri.

Bagi wisatawan yang tidak menggunakan jasa travel (tour), di inti kota Seoul ada “Seoul City Tour Bus” yang akan membawa wisatawan berkeliling inti kota Seoul. Terdapat 4 jenis bus dengan jangkauan yang berbeda. Paket A , single decker course , naik dari Gwanghwamun atau seputaran Deoksugung Palace. ada 27 terminal pemberhentian, termasuk beberapa tempat yg wajib dikunjungi seperti Myongdong, Dongdaemon market, Namdaemun market, insadong, N Seoul Tower, dll. Bus akan berhenti di setiap perberhentian setiap 30 menit. Artinya setelah bermain di daerah yang kita turuni tadi, kita bisa balik lagi ke terminal tersebut untuk nunggu bus berikutnya. Terserah kita mau main berapa lama di satu lokasi. Harga tiket bus USD 12 atau 12.000 won. Bus beroperasi dari jam 9.00 sampai jam 19.00.

Paket B, double decker course dengan rute yang berbeda dengan paket A tadi. Paket C dan D adalah bus yg berjalan khusus malam hari (night tour).

Korea is geographically situated in a temperate climate zone at medium latitude. As a result, it has four seasons. Korea’s climate is regarded as a continental climate from a temperate standpoint and a monsoonal climate from a precipitation standpoint. The climate of Korea is characterized by four distinct seasons: spring, summer, fall and winter. As in Spring (April-May), you can see the beautiful with all the cherry blossoms in bloom.

Seoul is a new modern city built on an ancient and shining history as well as a relatively well organized city. People can easily take subway network that interconnects every district of the city and the surrounding areas, therefore people seldom use their private transportation.

There is a free program “Seoul City Walking Tours” offered by the city of Seoul designed for tourists who want to see Seoul’s top tourist attractions on foot under the expert guidance of multilingual tour guides.

Seoul also has an extensive bus service. There are four different kinds of buses. Package A,single decker, provides service from Gwanghwamun or around Deoksugung Palace. Available with 27 Bus Stop including city’s most popular and noteworthy attractions places through circular routes such as Myongdong, Dongdaemon market, Namdaemun market, Insadong, N Seoul Tower, etc. Bus will stop every 30 minutes at each bus stop. Each bus tour returns to the point of departure then repeats the same course. With one ticket valid for the day, tourists may hop-on and–off at any of its destinations to visit the attractions of their choice. Ticket price is USD 12 or WON 12,000. Hours of operation is 9:00am to 9:00pm. Package B, double decker, is different with package A. While Package C and D are for night time tours.
